On Tuesday, 14 July 2020, we’ll be celebrating World Chimpanzee Day!

Dia Mundial del Ximpanzé

It was on 14 July 1960 that Dr Jane Goodall, the famous primatologist specialising in chimpanzees, first set foot on what is now Gombe Stream National Park, in Tanzania, to study this species in its natural habitat. Hence the date chosen by every organisation working for the conservation of chimpanzees for celebrating  World Chimpanzee Day, when they all join together to call for the conservation of our primate cousins and alert the world to the problems facing them that threaten their survival in the wild.

For that special occasion, we will be meeting up, as the organisations working for the conservation of chimpanzees over here: a morning for celebrating with, through and for chimpanzees.

We encourage everyone who would like to come along and share this day with us at the Zoo and take part in all the activities we have prepared. For a world we can all live in! Come along and receive a commemorative badge!
