The second graders have come to meet the two Gorilla families we have at the zoo and have all become primatological experts !.
First they have seen the drill and the spider monkeys comparing the similarities and physical differences between these species and with themselves and not only that but also of feeding, displacement ... They have been able to see offspring and their play behavior, it has been a great time!
Then they visited the Xebo family, they were really impressed with its size, a whole silver back !. And they have been able to see behaviors of feeding, displacement, surveillance and play. With them we have learned some of the faces that gorillas put on when they are angry, alert ...
And we visited the Ebobo family, they were able to see the differences between males. Not all gorillas are the same or have the same character as they have been able to see by seeing some charge.
But they couldn’t leave the zoo without taking a look at the chimpanzees, our closest relatives !. With them we have explained the problems that primates have in general !. A good conscience can save many of your lives!
Finally, they were lucky enough to see and touch an adult male skull and the hair of a gorilla (taking the appropriate hygienic measures). An experience they will never forget !
