The Zoo is renovating its main children's play area for children aged 2 to 12, a service highly valued by our visitors and members of the Zoo Club. A total of 18 games have been installed, some reused from the previous equipment due to its good condition, which offer a wide range of gaming opportunities for users of different ages and abilities. They include slides, bridges, sand games and a climbing wall among other elements that have in common the promotion of group play over individual activity. Most are made of untreated wood such as mountain larch, oak or rubinia, materials suitable for the weather, and the pavements are soft sand and recycled rubber.

The games are located next to the Sahel area, in the central part of the Zoo, and occupy 1,292.80 m2 of surface. There is also an adjacent 306 m2 of adapted games, inaugurated at the end of 2016 and fully integrated into the whole without any delimiting element to allow children of the same family to share the game experience in a single space. The new complex also has a wheelchair accessible route that incorporates other adapted games.

The new games are perfectly integrated into the landscape of the park and comply with the UNE-EN 1176 and UNE-EN 1177 regulations and the set of technical prescriptions for the design, execution and reception of the children's play areas of the City Council of Barcelona

The Zoo's range of children's games is completed by an area for smaller children located in the Farm.
