Today the Zoo went to visit the 1st year ESO students who are starting a new interdisciplinary project.

They will choose different animals that are in the Zoo and research all aspects of the biology of these animals and the requirements necessary for them to have good welfare in captivity. That is why today they had the advice of a Zoo educator who explained many aspects to them about it.

It must be remembered that animals are in captivity to try to prevent their disappearance in their habitats, that is, for their conservation.

We learned a lot from the animals with the help of the Zoo educator and our companions!

So we visited different animals, to whom we gave a gift that they loved, like the sweets we gave to the warthogs and many more surprises to other animals!

We also had some surprises and one that impressed us a lot was being able to see invertebrates such as a tarantula, a crab, a thousand feet or a scorpion that glows with ultraviolet light! We have been very brave!

Finally, we came home very excited with all the experiences we had with the animals at the Zoo!

We have been very busy these two days!

We had little time to learn to be guardians of nature but we made the most of it! And that doesn’t end there, what we learned at the Zoo is the beginning !. Because from home we can also save nature and the species that live there by making small changes in our daily lives that do not require much effort!

In addition, now, in winter, we can make dining rooms for the little birds that right now find it difficult to find food and hang them on the balcony or in the garden.

There are only 2 days left for the arrival of the kings and we want to help them in the world of animals !.

We’ve only had 2 days, but we’ve been very busy learning a lot from the animals we’ve visited and making enrichments - toys like this piñata you’ve seen.

We wanted to end the year learning a lot about nature and animals, to be good guardians of nature!

That’s why we’ve traveled all over the continents visiting amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. They have told us many curiosities and the dangers they have in their habitats to survive, all caused by us: humans.

Also that the Zoo exists to try to make many of the animals we have seen, and that do important work in the ecosystem where they live, disappear.

We are guardians of nature!

We travel around the world to see where animals live and what problems they have in their home! If we know this we can fix it.

With what we have learned, we will make the endangered animals that live in the Zoo, to prevent them from disappearing, the best they can be. That's why we have prepared toys for them, some with food inside and others without. We’ve seen Zoo keepers already do this work but we’ve helped them these days!

To end the year there is nothing better than learning to be the guardians of nature!

During these days, we have not stopped traveling to all continents visiting all the animals, it is important that to help them, we learn where and how they live, what they eat, the dangers they have ... So we can help them better!

We learn everything herbivorous, carnivorous and omnivorous animals eat in their habitat and also how they do it. Some migrate when they can't find them, others feed on herbs, leaves, fruits or seeds. Some have to hunt alone or have more complicated strategies as they hunt in groups. Others have to hibernate when they do not find food in their habitat or accumulate a lot of food when they live in places where there is not much, such as the desert.

Grass, feed, meat, fish, insects, vegetables (zucchini, lettuce, celery, leeks, tomatoes ...), seasonal fruits (apples, pears, bananas, oranges ...) caram how many different types of food !. They are all kept in the warehouse, where the zookeepers and we go to order food for the different animals.

Of course, not everyone eats the same thing, there are herbivores like the elephant, giraffe, giant turtle or rhino, carnivores like lions, crocodiles, meerkats or storks and omnivores like chimpanzees and bears .

During these days the little ones have learned what herbivorous, carnivorous and omnivorous animals eat both in nature and the menu we prepare for them daily at the Zoo.

They have helped us prepare some menus for giant turtles, giraffes, penguins and many others who have loved seeing these children so interested in learning things from them. of course, they have seen some kitchens where the diet of sea lions, birds is prepared ...
