PAU CLARIS VISITS US!

Today the first ESO students had the second session of the Zoo Interdisciplinary Project.

They will have the opportunity to see different facilities and learn what factors are involved in animal welfare.

One of these factors in which they have participated is that of environmental enrichment, one of the tasks carried out at the Zoo to improve animal welfare.

Enrichments are personalized, not only by species but also by individual. And every day they are different!

It takes into account the age, physical condition of the animal and the senses that have more developed, to enhance them. They aim to provide stimuli to make it easier for them to perform behaviors that they would do in nature.

So the prairie dogs have been given grass in the yard so that they can use their senses and move around to find food. And the same with the male leopard where they have put a hanging sack because what we want is to stimulate him to go up using his claws or jumping while using his sense of smell to investigate his prey.

It has been a spectacular day! And they will be able to translate this knowledge into their final project!
