The Barcelona Zoo Foundation has opened the 2020 call for applications for grants for research and conservation projects. With these grants, the Foundation wants to promote projects of other entities, institutions and / or people for the development of research and conservation projects of endangered habitats and species that are considered of interest, and that share the values ​​of the Zoo and the its Foundation for the conservation, education and awareness of biodiversity.

As a novelty, this 12th Edition Scholarships for Research and Conservation Projects establishes as one of the criteria to be taken into account, the leadership by young researchers (pre or postdoctoral) of the projects presented, with the aim that the grants of the Fundació Barcelona Zoo become a tool to support the development of its research careers.

In the period 2009-2019, the Barcelona Zoo Foundation has allocated a total of 992,007 euros in its annual grants . This way of collaborating with other external entities complements our own research and conservation programs or in partnership, which show our commitment to the protection of the most endangered fauna.

The deadline for submitting applications and projects for 2020 is November 30.
