Blue Jacaranda

Jacaranda mimosifolia

The jacaranda develops an extensive foliage, full of feathery leaves that give it a fluffy appearance and that fall from the tree if the winter is too cold. Most notable, though, are the flowers, which fill the tree with violet blue patches. Also take a look at the curious shape of the fruit. It lives in savannah areas where water is accessible, forming small wooded islands with other species.

In its region of origin, in the past the mix of leaves and bark was crushed to ease glandular infections and cure skin diseases.
