Privet
Ligustrum lucidum
The privet is a small tree that is often found as a bush. It has rounded foliage, full of elliptical shiny green leaves that are slightly curved towards the obverse and ending in a point. It is worth taking a look in the summer when it is filled with aromatic inflorescences in the shape of a grape.
An insect lives in the branches that produces a waxy substance that is sold to make candles and enamel for ceramics. It is not known for certain, but the wax is produced by the insect laying eggs or by the plant as a result of the stimulus of the insect feeding from it.
