From September 24 to 29 we celebrate 134 years of Zoo!

CELEBRATING 134 YEARS WITH FREE ADMISSION FOR THE YOUNGEST VISITORS AND A DRAWING COMPETITION!

The Zoo is celebrating its 134th anniversary with its sights set on the future: on younger generations and the role they will play in preserving biodiversity.

That’s why, from 24 to 27 September, we have prepared a special programme to encourage children to learn, enjoy nature and discover that they too can be part of the change.

FREE ADMISSION FOR THE YOUNGEST VISITORS

During these five days, children up to 12 years old, with a general child admission ticket, can enter the Zoo free of charge when accompanied by an adult with a ticket or a Zoo Club membership.

An initiative that connects with the Zoo’s mission to preserve the planet’s biodiversity and bring nature closer to the public, especially children.

Promotion terms and conditions

  • Promotion exclusively available for in-person purchases made on 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 September 2026.
  • The promotion is valid for children up to 12 years old, with a general child admission ticket, accompanied by an adult with a ticket or a Zoo Club membership. If the accompanying adult is a Zoo Club member, they must go to the ticket office to collect the child’s free admission ticket.
  • As this is a temporary promotion, the cost of tickets purchased in advance will not be refunded.
  • The Zoo reserves the right to request a document proving the child’s age.
  • The promotion cannot be combined with other promotions or discounts.

DRAWING COMPETITION “BARCELONA’S BIODIVERSITY”

Barcelona has changed profoundly over the past 134 years. During this time, the Zoo and other organisations have helped to create green spaces, conserve species, protect nature and restore it.

To move towards a more biodiverse Barcelona, we need to learn about species, create and restore habitats, address threats and, above all, act together.

Now it’s our turn to keep caring for it and think about what we want our city to look like in the future. Will you help us?

Start by drawing what you imagine Barcelona’s biodiversity will look like 134 years from now.

 

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE COMPETITION

1. Go to the drawing area
You’ll find it between the Komodo dragon enclosure and the flying fox enclosure.

2. Draw
Draw the biodiversity of Barcelona as you imagine it 134 years from now. You’ll find all the materials you need on the table!

3. Send us your drawing
Take a photo of your drawing and send it to zoobarcelona@bsmsa.cat with the subject “Concurs dibuix Zoo”. In the body of the email, include:

  • Name of the participating child
  • Child’s age
  • Full name of the mother, father or legal guardian
  • Contact telephone number
  • Contact email address

And that’s it! Now all that’s left is to let your imagination run wild and picture the biodiverse Barcelona of the future.

 

WINNERS

There will be one winning drawing in each of the three established age groups:

  • 0 to 4 years old
  • 5 to 7 years old
  • 8 years old and over

Each winner will receive an annual Zoo Club membership for their whole family. If they are already a Zoo Club member, they will receive a free annual renewal.

The winners will be announced on 29 September. The Zoo will contact the winning families directly by telephone or email using the contact details provided when entering the competition.
