Brazilian Coral Tree
Erythrina falcata
The main attraction of this tree, and generally speaking of all the species in the genus, are the stunning yellow flowers that bud in spring and which are grouped on the lateral branches. A deciduous tree with a straight thick trunk and yellowish bark with widespread branches. Its leaves are compound with three light green oval-shaped leaflets and thorns on the rachis. Erythrina is found in the tropical and subtropical areas of every continent, except Europe.
There are only two trees of this specific species in the whole of Barcelona. The one at the Zoo and the other on the mountain of Montjuich.
